A Celebration of American Classical Music at the Crocker
Sunday, July 10th, 3pm

Sacramento, CA—Brennen Milton and Michael Dale, Sacramento musicians, will present an All-American classical music concert at 3 P.M. on Sunday July 10, 2016 at the Crocker Art Museum located at 216 O. St in Downtown Sacramento.

At the turn of the 20th century artists from the United States began creating original sounds. They contributed to an American Style of classical music. Michael and Brennen will perform music composed by Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, Samuel Barber, and new music from Sacramento composer, Cody Bennett.

In April of this year Brennen performed solo at Carnegie Hall in New York City, where the Inter Harmony International Music Festival invited him to perform Debussy’s Premier Rhapsody.

Mr. Milton first performed as orchestral soloist in October of 2015 with California State University Sacramento’s Symphony Orchestra. They featured him as soloist for the first concert of their 2015-2016 season. Brennen received this honor by auditioning for their concerto competition earlier that year.

Brennen has also performed as an orchestral musician in the Sacramento region. The Sacramento Philharmonic invited Brennen to perform at the Sacramento Community Center Theatre as an extra for their educational concert as well as Mahler’s 2nd Symphony.

Michael Dale is a composer/improviser and multi-instrumentalist based in Sacramento. He earned his BM in composition and performance at CSU, Sacramento. He also holds an MA from Mills College in Oakland, where he studied with Fred Frith (composer of the film scores Rivers and Tides and Touch the Sound) and Roscoe Mitchell (founder of Art Ensemble of Chicago). Michael performs in many different styles, both as a pianist and as woodwind specialist.

Recently he has been featured on the following recordings: Harmony of East and West: The Spiritual Music of G.I. Gurdjieff, and Perseverance by the free-jazz group Sound Immersion. His other activities include film scoring (including the award-winning short Milo’s Wheels) and appearances as a judge for the Classical Masters piano competition at Folsom Lake College (FLC). Michael teaches MIDI, Pro Tools, and Music Theory at FLC, and also maintains a private lesson studio at Sac Prep Music Academy.
